Plan a recording session
Use recording Equipment safely to produce a multi-track recording
Through a range of recording sessions, I am going to practice and learn how to organise and plan recording studio sessions. My Learning Aim A is demonstrated by my planning of each practice recording session, demonstration of use of equipment, and describing the organisation of each recording session.
Multi tracking is using computer software and equipment to record

1st JuneLast lesson I set up and recorded a drum kit. First we built the drum kit, then we placed 2 microphones above the set, one infront of the kick drum and one on the snare. It was then all plugged into an interface which was connected to a laptop

Pros and Cons of using a Pop Filter:
Pros:
-produces a richer, cleaner sound
-reduces chance of pops being audible in the recording
-makes the recordings sound more profesional
Cons:
-can be very clunky and hard to set up
-aren't good for beatboxing due to how they reduce popping
-don't always work well
Pros and Cons of dynamic microphones:
Pros:
-can effectively pick up sound waves coming into the front of the microphone
-are sturdy
-can last for long times with no loss in quality
-require no power source
-are good with high gain sounds
Cons:
-aren't as accurate or sensitive as a condenser microphone
-aren't omni directional
Pros and Cons of condenser microphones:
Pros:
-are omni directional
-are very sensitive and accurate
-are very quick at picking up sound waves
Cons:
-requires phantom power to function
-isn't as good as dynamics with high gain
For Aim B, i have decided that i am going to record Hitchin' A Ride by Green Day.
I will have:
me on guitar and bass
James O'Connell on drums
Callum Friend singing
Final Mixing:
The timing in my final mix was perfect and incredibly easy to get in time as the performers played in time with each other and not with the track, this meant that the tracks were in time before I'd put them into Reason. Once the tracks were in, the first thing I did was EQ'd it and balanced the tracks so the levels fitted together and nothing was drowned out. Once I'd balanced it, I added panning and reverb before compressing it and adding a fade in to the beginning.
